WHAT'S WITH THE MONKEYS?
At J.Doe MCC, we have adopted the Monkey as a symbol for the regressive and animalistic
drives in humankind. It's also a synonym for the "Powers That Be". We believe that as the
species on top of the planetary food chain and endowed with qualities and properties above
and beyond anything else around us the human race is no less than Evolution's pet,
empowered with far more potential for greater good than anything that ever came to live.
Thus, the Monkey is the fixed state in evolution that knows none but the crudest things
and is perfectly fine with it. See, the Monkey vaguely looks like a man, properties
sketched out within it that evoke nascent man-like abilities. Well, it's not a man.
It's all very promising, really... yeah, give it a couple million years and maybe.
But in the end it's really a malicious mock-up. And it stinks. And we really don't have a couple million years to spare.
Within the human race, we have our own Monkeys. Atop the tallest
buildings, confined within the highest office-sanctums they look down upon the world as
it currently exists and prepare for their greatest triumph. They've really been working
hard to lock us down a course of powerlessness and through unchecked consumption, the
distilling of poisoned aspirations, ill food and general exploitation make us more in
their semblance. We could be spending the best of our time evolving, moving on,
getting greater. But the Propaganda works to empower the Monkey within us, working on
coarse instincts. Shed our humanity, becoming living balls of Want, with variable ensuing
frustration levels, indulge in fruitless aspiration for shit we don't need, wallow in mass
entertainment and get dead-depressed at 35. And after all this they whisper as they show
us pictures of the world being ruined, nature being devastated, animal species becoming
extinct, the planet slowly choking: "humanity is a cancer, the planet can't sustain more
than a limited number". And we're supposed to turn against our own selves as we get
monkeyed more and agree that we've been bad, that we're responsible and guilty.
Except when were we ever given a choice? A real one? When did they build a world that
honestly supported alternate ways of life and alternate cultures? We're not talking of
the "sustainable development" smokescreen. No, instead and from the get-go they dreamed up
Globalization at our global expense and we should be the ones shouldering the blame for
living unhappily and at gunpoint on a decaying planet under bastard monkeys throwing
coconuts at us with irritating monkey screams.
Well we've had enough of that.
Now we believe it would be fine and all good fun if the Monkeys stayed back and left us
alone. But the Monkeys have plans. Monkey plans. They don't want to be left behind as
Humankind makes its way out of the big Monkey Jungle. For that's where we're going.
They might not be about to let us but then again, we've really had past enough haven't we?
